Drie misdadigers spelen de hoofdrol in dit in Stockholm gesitueerde onderwereldverhaal. Een kleine crimineel, de Chileen Jorge, ontsnapt uit de gevangenis en wil met chantage wraak nemen op de opdrachtgever die hem heeft laten vallen. JW evolueert van kleine dealer tot rijzende ster binnen de drugshandel om het snobleventje met zijn jetsetvrienden te kunnen betalen. De Serviër Mrado, uitvoerende kracht binnen het afpersingsmilieu, wil voor eigen rekening beginnen en komt in aanvaring met zijn nietsontziende baas. Eerste roman uit een trilogie waarbij het verhaal verteld wordt door onderwereldfiguren en waarbij de politie er niet aan te pas komt. Zowel hun denkwijze, handelingen, taalgebruik en menselijke omgangsvormen weerspiegelen hun lage niveau. Lof voor de Zweedse auteur die zijn drie verhaallijnen een menselijk tintje weet mee te geven en ze uiteindelijk laat versmelten. Origineel en vernieuwend maar voor de doorgewinterde thrillerlezer misschien wel niet spannend genoeg. Zie ook 'Snel geld'*.
