There were many wonderful details: ostrich eggshells, roasted watermelon pips, how her grandmother ground them and smeared them on her skin; the white helmet daubed with rabbit fur and guinea fowl feathers... And moments of real magic. I was entranced. Miller seems to know this world as well as her own skin.'
