The Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh is very famous all around the world. Although he died 125 years ago, everybody knows his wonderful paintings The Potato Eaters and Sun flowers or the story about how he cut off his own ear. In this fun book, two neighbourhood friends living in Amsterdam - Sammy and Nell - dive into the world of art. Not only do they visit the Van Gogh Museum, they create a beautiful artwork of their own, learn lots about the famous artist and even end up play-acting Van Gogh's painting The Potato Eaters_ Mum: Sam, see those faint, dark spots here and there? Nowadays, artists think this gives their work flair. But when Van Gogh was alive it was another time. People wouldn't buy his work, not even for a dime. The public wanted to see beautiful people instead. Not penniless farmers, but the rich and well-bred.
